The story tells of Kalsom and Samiah who were separated since childhood following a Communist attack during the Emergency era, but eventually they meet again. Bayu is Kalsom's grandson and is not interested in going to school due to problems occurring in his home. Bayu's story catches the attention of Teacher Wati, who becomes aware of her student's behaviour.
