Nikolai Shvernik
Biography
Nikolai Shvernik was a Soviet politician who served as the second chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (head of state) from 1946 until 1953. Though he was the head of state, Shvernik had very little power as Joseph Stalin, the premier at the time, had most of the power due to his position as general secretary of the CPSU, the de facto leader.

Jahangir Baghirov: Conqueror of the Skies ("Səmanın Cahangiri") is a 2026 Azerbaijani documentary film about Guards Senior Lieutenant and fighter pilot Jahangir Mirjafar Baghirov (1919–1943). Based on historical sources, archival materials and wartime memoirs, the film tells the story of his childhood, military education, heroic combat missions, his final battle during World War II and the preservation of his legacy.
