Pak Merdeka and Mak Asiah try not to show favoritism between their adopted son, Azim, and their biological son, Zaki. Now Pak Merdeka has reached the golden age of 59 years old. Mak Asiah has passed away, but during her lifetime, Pak Merdeka wanted to spend the rest of his life with his children and chose to stay with Zaki, who is married. Despite Azim's persistent attempts to convince Pak Merdeka to live with him, Pak Merdeka gives various excuses. Since childhood, Azim has tried to win Pak Merdeka's heart even though he is only an adopted son, and he genuinely loves Pak Merdeka, yet for some reason Pak Merdeka stubbornly refuses to live with him. On the other hand, in his own son's home, Pak Merdeka's presence is disliked by Zaki's wife, Sarah. Sarah dislikes how Pak Merdeka often wears the flag that he calls his Merdeka blanket and boasts stories about how proud he is to be Pak Merdeka's son because he was born on August 31st. To Sarah, Pak Merdeka's behavior is annoying.

The story follows Zahra, who cannot accept the reality of being co-wife because she feels she is already perfect enough, beautiful, and financially independent as the founder of a beauty product company. Zahra harbors resentment towards her husband, Anuar, and his second wife, Aisyah, to the extent that she is willing to let her two children long for their father. However, everything changes when she discovers that Aisyah is suffering from stage 4 cancer. Although she initially struggles to accept Aisyah's presence, her heart changes and she becomes determined to care for Aisyah until the end of her life.
