Biography

Rosalie Ida Straus (6 February 1849 – 15 April 1912) was an American homemaker and philanthropist, and the wife of Isidor Straus, co-owner of the department store Macy’s. She was a first-class passenger aboard the ocean liner RMS Titanic on its maiden voyage. Straus died in the sinking after refusing to leave her husband, becoming one of the most remembered victims of the disaster.
