The Lost Mercx
The Lost Mercx (2025) is a film directed by Richard Hoddinott.
The Lost Merckx tells the story of how an important personal bicycle from the world's greatest ever cyclist, Eddy Merckx, ended up living in the attic of an old bicycle shop just outside Manchester, in the North West of England. The film was inspired by Gerry Shields, the hero of our story and his incredibly rare bicycle. Gerry opened his cycle shop in 1947, staying in business for an amazing 75 years. The film was shortlisted in the 'Short Documentary' category at the Paladino d'Oro Sport Film Festival in Palermo, Italy.
